Aruban artist and participant in the former residency programme Caribbean Linked II, Germille Geerman, shares a blog post about the ongoing edition of Caribbean Linked at Ateliers ’89, Aruba. He offers his thoughts on invited artist Diego Espinosa performing Ursonate (1922-32) by German artist Kurt Schwitters:

For the longest while, I couldn’t remember a time, where everybody put their phones away, even paid attention to put those phones on Silence..

Even the A/C was turned off in the Black Box this time.

I suppose it’s the Goosebumps that we all Really want, at some point.
Can’t really get it while distracted in Chaos, well sometimes…
But It is the Silence within the Chaos, where it resides.

The anti-social media has soooo much to do with one’s attention span, yet when used correctly, can reach far, in lack of time.

Every here & there, pops up a somebody. A somebody that’ll somehow remind you of the Beauty of the element of surprise..

Bliss, Silence, Gibberish, Rhythm, Story, Angles, Resonance.
The beauty of simplicity, with a funky dunk, somehow.

Put your phones away, guys (you reading)… not just now, but whenever you’re at a
performance.

You know what?
Just turn the damn thing off, since the locking of your car..

For that one moment, once in, you’re disrespecting everybody else in the experience.. Robbing away their opportunity to reach that Bliss..
For attention please do go somewhere else.. And high heels? Please..

It is you, that you are robbing from, Each time you miss that tickle in the silence..

Everybody tickles differently, Remember that.
It is the Silence within the Chaos, where it resides.
